This spot is famous for a reason! I still dream of this BBQ and it's been a week since I've tried it. Came on a Friday afternoon ~1pm and we were lucky enough to be the last party to get the sliced brisket (definitely worth the wait). We also only had to wait 2 hours to get our food which I've read is not too long, so was already feeling quite fortunate. Given the long wait, my group decided to try a bit of each offering and my favourites were definitely the brisket and the ribs, which was surprising as pulled pork is usually one of my favorites. The brisket, however, completely falls apart in your mouth and is the perfect blend of fatty, soft and flavorful. Each bite packs a punch and it even tastes good as a leftover. Will be back next time I'm in Austin and will DEFINITELY be buying more.

The best BBQ I ever had. Brisket melts in your mouth. Ribs, fall off the bone. Sausage burst of flavor in your mouth. Pulled pork, man if I was kosher I'd break it for this. Service it's that Texas hospitality! It was my first time in Texas and man I'd move for this place. The ambiance well you better get your chairs out you'll be waiting a bit but it's worth it.

My rating falls somewhere around a 3.5. Despite having grown up in Austin, I have somehow never been to Franklin BBQ until just recently. As a local, I just never felt the need to wait in line or deal with an early morning crowd. We had guests from out of town, and they were dead set on trying the BBQ here. The wait in line took about 2 hours on a Friday around lunch time. We ordered a spread of brisket, smoked turkey, ribs, sausage, potato salad, and coleslaw. Sliced bread, onions, pickles, and sauces are included. We also ordered a few local beers and a pie. The sides at Franklin are pretty average, and while sides aren't really the focus of a BBQ joint, I do feel like they should complement the meat. I can't say that their sides particularly stood out. The meat is very tender and moist though I found it to be on the saltier side. Overall, Franklin is one of those touristy BBQ destinations that draws people from all over the world, and I think that's great. I do think that there are better BBQ places in Austin as far as taste goes, but if you're visiting, Franklin BBQ is iconic and worth trying.

Yes long line! Pros: they have beach chairs you can borrow. Lots of seatings inside and outside. Lots of merch you can buy. Food was good, smoked and tender not super juicy but I did get to go. Maybe it's better fresh. I don't know if it's worth the wait for me. Probably not, maybe if it was 30 minutes but not an hour and a half wait. Sides were ok. Banana bourbon pie was good.

I'm not a bbq fan but I find myself trying to wiggle my way back here for some pork ribs! My daughter is 20 months, and they were able to accommodate us! Everyone was so sweet, we will be back again!

Listen , no look this past weekend I went to Austin Texas . On the list of places to eat was Franklins , and let me tell me you they didn't disappoint. The wait was 2 hours , we arrived at 11:48 and we finally ate our food at 1:45. Let me tell you it was worth it . Nestled on the corner of the street not to far from downtown Austin. I suggest you get there when they open if not sooner. While waiting for our food , a server does come down to see more or less what you would like to order . Once inside you are able immediately hit with all kinds of smells . We ordered a pound brisket , and a half of pound ribs and a side of coleslaw and pinto beans which all came with a side of bread . Let me tell you it is more than enough. Obviously the larger the party the more food you have to order The brisket was so tender and juicy and well seasoned. The ribs fell off the bone and the side were really good and I don't even like pinto beans . The women at the register were so lovely and nice and they answered any questions you had . There is indoor and outdoor seating so there is enough space . I did not indulge in the desserts but i would next time . Please do me the favor and visit franklins, it is 1,000 % worth it . Until next time .

I've always been intimidated by the line at Franklin's, but I finally decided to try it since my brother came to visit Austin. We arrived around 10 am on a Friday morning and there were maybe 30 people ahead of us. Franklin's is known to have a wait, but they're definitely well-prepared for it. They have fans blowing air around outside, folding chairs under the stairs for people to sit in, and even a little stand selling beers and merch outside too. A staff member will come around and tally how much meat everyone is planning to get so that they can warn people who are further back in line about the possibility of running out of certain items. When we arrived, they told us they would likely be out of beef ribs, but they ended up having some when we got to the front which was a nice surprise! It took us about 2.5 hours to get to the front of the line (1 hour of waiting before they opened and then another 1.5 hours to get to the counter). The person cutting the meat was so nice! They were super friendly and seemed genuinely happy to greet us. We ended up having a whole conversation and they gave us an extra pork rib and a pie for free! They also gave out some freebies to the people in front of us and behind us, so I think it's a common thing but definitely helped us feel better about the long wait. We ended up ordering a bit of everything to try. I'm no barbecue expert, but my favorites were: - Beef Rib (6/5): Oh my goodness. If I didn't get this beef rib, I think the 2.5 hour wait wouldn't have been worth it. This was the best rib I've ever had. It was absolutely massive at 1.9 lbs and was so tender it fell right off the bone when I tried to grab some. The outside bark had a delicious seasoning and the inside had just the right amount of fat. I'm not sure if I'll ever have a rib this good again. - Brisket (5/5): I expected this to be good and it was good. I think it was noticeably more tender than the brisket I've had at other bbq places before. - Smoked Turkey (5/5): I am a turkey hater. I'll eat one little tiny piece of turkey on Thanksgiving just because it feels wrong not to, but that's my fill for the year. I had zero expectations for this turkey, but I heard that it's really good so we just got a ¼ lb and it was shockingly delicious! Wayyyyy more tender and juicy than any turkey I've had before. I wouldn't wait hours in line for it but I'm really glad I tried it! - Ruby's Dang Pie (5/5): Flaky, buttery crust. Custardy, coconutty filling. Reminds me of something my grandma would make. I thought the pulled pork and sausages were good too, but nothing compared to that beef rib. Like others have mentioned, the sides were just alright. If I were to do this all again, I would come early and bring something to do (and maybe some drinks depending on the group). Definitely get a beef rib if you can (sorry, I'll stop talking about the beef rib now), brisket, and turkey if you want to break up the beef. I would skip the sides and opt for the free pickles instead. Don't miss Ruby's pie though.

Finally was able to get in when the line wasn't out the door, and oh how lucky I was, as this was a last minute choice after coming back from flying over 16 hrs from Argentina. The food was SPECTACULAR. Brisket is very moist and tender and very full of seasoning. I loved it! Ribs are amazing as well! Ice tea is fantastic and the cole slaw was very fresh and flavorful! The service was great, staff is very friendly, and even took the chance to take my tray away and throw my trash, even though I was already at the bin, that was a very nice attention to detail that makes this place all around a great environment to dine in. Overall, I will come back, line varies over the weekends, however, if you time it during the week, you can score some brisket.

The "ending" (technically beginning but I wrote my reviews backwards haha) to my TX trip and we gotta save the best for last!!! On a Thursday during Fall season... 930am-ish arrival and line isn't ridiculous! There's also chairs available for usage, and it's not super hot, nor raining...it's a W(in) in my book! 11:20am, we're at the front door! 11:50am, placed our order and there's still brisket, yeeee! 12:00pm, grubbing time!!! Everything was great -- brisket was juicy and tender. Sausage was good too, the white bread such an experience haha ~2.5hour process, was able to do a coffee run (literally, I visited Paperboy 3blocks up LOL) chatted with people while in line from locals to those visiting as well (like ourselves!) It's a whole day thing so plan accordingly! Upon leaving around 1pm, plenty of customers were still lining up as well!

I was super excited to try Franklin's. We ordered ahead for pick up. Maybe that has something to do with my rating but it is what it is. The brisket wasn't all that tender IMO. And the ribs were way over salted. Sausage was good but nothing to rave about. I had better BBQ elsewhere here in Austin on this trip. And the potato salad was so-so, though I admit I'm not a big fan of mustard potato salad (didn't know that's how it was made). I'm glad I didn't wait in the enormously long line I saw at 11am. I went inside and buy some rub and sauce. I like the authentic atmosphere. They also have other merch. SUPER nice staff.
